In this project there are many videos that have influenced me in my storyline. Here are a list of some.

Ashanti - Rain On Me

The video shows a story about a couple this is very similar to what i would like to show. I like the focus and slow motions they make the subjects stand out. The location where the couple live in is where i would like to have my characters in. I feel that the location gives space and makes the couple stand out. I would need to have space in my location as i want this same look.

Ashanti - Foolish

This video is similar to the one above but here the male does not abuse his women instead he makes a fool out of her. The way they have acted you can tell that the female really has feeling for her man. I like the parts where you cant here what they are saying but you can tell what is being said this is something i need to consider. The outcome to this video is that the female allows what is happening to her and gives in when he comes back home. This is not what i want to show as i want to show the female letting go. I like the way the video flows the storyine shows well.

Keyshia Cole - I Should Have Cheated

Her is a similar dilemma. In the end she gives in. Emotions and expressions play major part in reactions. I have noticed that the video has slow motion shots this takes the viewer in and makes htem focs on whats happening.

Monica - So Gone

In this video location is very grand. It makes the video look interesting. The house is huge and gives the female space. Slow motion shots throughout i think makes the expressions stand out.

Final Major Project Idea Change

I have decided to do a video about a relationship that was great at the start but ended with the man abusing his women. This will be a short film as there will be many scenes. I am going to make a soundtrack to it and the music will be of an emotional feel. I will have a female poet or singer over the track talking you through what is happening in the video. I will need to collaborate with the poet/singer as the lyrics will reflect what is happing in the video. The actor i need, need to really have faceical expressions that show what is happening. The main Characters are one male and one female.

Short film – Letting Go – By Dalveer Sohal

Story line

The story consists of a relationship that was good at the start and ended with the partner abusing his woman. The video will show the good times and how it lead to the end. The story will show how the woman is emotionally upset about the situation and how she reminisces about the relationship. Overall the outcome of the video is to show the pain the woman feels and how she is trying to get over it with her realising her emotions and pain.

1. Opening Scene.

Female sat on a sofa with her head in her knees. She clearly is upset and is in an emotional state. You will be able to tell that she is thinking about things.

Camera angle – The camera will zoom slowly closer to the female that is sat on the sofa, the feel to it is that the atmosphere is peaceful but the female will show that there is a situation going on. The surroundings will make the subject (female) stand out. The way the camera pans closer to her will make it focus on what is going on and why she is sat in the way she is.

2. Flashback to the first date.

(A range of ideas could work with this scene, as there are many things that could go with a first date)

Ideas – Going to the cinema, or a meal.

Cut to the female at the first date location e.g. outside the cinema or restaurant.
Feelings - (Patiently waiting, nervous).
She checks her watch and looks around. He is late to meet her. They meet with him pecking her on the cheek. She smiles and they go in. cut to inside the restaurant or cinema. If in cinema he tries to put his arm around her, if in restaurant they toast and smile and gaze at each other, cut to them coming out of location hand in hand or he has his arm around her, you can clearly tell the date went well. He has walked her home they are outside her apartment they say good bye with a peak on the lips and a hug, she turns around walks in cut to her inside smiling, cut to him leaving grinning and looking back.

Camera angle – The camera cuts to show each stage of the first date, they won’t be fast but will merge together.

3. Flashback to them settled in the relationship

(Scenes of things that go in a relationship when they live with one another)

Ideas – They are sat on a sofa watching a movie cut to the male partner kissing the female on the neck, in this scene you can see that they are about to make love, this will be shown very subtle and not too graphic. Fade out you get the idea of what’s about to happen.

Camera angle – The camera will zoom from behind the sofa so you can see there backs and tell they are watching a movie, cut to the camera in front and a slow zoom to the subject matter a dark fade will be used.

4. The lead up to the first argument.

She comes out of a store you can tell she has been shopping she has bags in her hand. As she walks out she bumps into an old male friend they greet each other with a hug and you can tell they haven’t seen each other in ages and they catch up and have a conversation. As the conversation is going on the girls boyfriends mate is walking across the other side of the road and he notices his mates girlfriend talking to a man, he doesn’t no that its her old friend and as he is walking past he looks back and the girlfriend says bye to her mate and they hug again and peck on the cheek. The boyfriend’s friend that has seen this has a misconception of what’s going on and immediately calls his friend and tells him of his side of the story cut to the boyfriend on the other side of the phone of a reaction that shows he is shocked and angry.

Camera angle – As the girl comes out of the shop the camera will pan around her and the meeting with her mate, as the boyfriends friend walks past there will be a cut to him on the other side of the road with the camera following the walk across and in the back ground you can see the girlfriend and the mate talking. The camera will cut back to the meeting and show the girlfriend walking off and a cut to the boyfriends friend on the other side of the road on the phone this will be a close up of the conversation there will be a cut to the other side of the phone with the boyfriends reaction.

5. The first argument.

As she walks into her apartment the boyfriend immediately storms up to her and accuses her of what he has been told. You can see the argument take place and the boyfriend doesn’t let her speak or have a say he is over powering in the argument. As the argument finishes he walks out on her and leaves her she tries to grab and stop him but he pulls her off and slams the door shut cut to the girlfriend really shocked at what’s happened and falls onto the sofa and gets really upset, she nods her head at the situation and you can tell that she is baffled.

6. Back to her on the sofa reminiscing

As she is sat on the sofa she will turn her head and you can see that she crying tears will be rolling down her face and she’s looking really upset. Her emotions will show thoughts of confusion and disbelief of what’s happened. She just can’t believe her situation and she nods her head.

Camera angle – The camera will focus on her face and will show emotions in her mind.

7. Celebrating their anniversary over a meal she has cooked.

This scene will show that the female has just cooked and settled down a meal for their anniversary. She is dressed up in a dress and looks like she has made an effort. She has her phone in her shoulder and is trying to call her boyfriend to tell him to come home she has bought him a gift and is going to surprise him with a cooked meal which looks romantic. She does not get a answer and sits across the table with the other side empty, she puts her head down into her hands and waits and finally ages later he comes home and has totally forgot about the anniversary and is drunk. She has a right to argue with him and he ignores her and the argument leads to the bedroom where she is in his face angry he gets angry himself and pushes her against the wall with full power, she bangs her head and he shouts at her and leaves again out the door. She is alone in the house and breaks down crying again she calls him over and over again but he ignores her.

Camera angle – The camera will move with the movements while she is on the phone and setting the table cut to her sat across the table-waiting cut to him walking in cut to her arguing with him. The camera follows them to the bedroom and focuses on the argument getting heated. Cut to the push against the wall, cut to him walking out. Cut to her calling him.

8. He tries to make up with her

He comes in late the same night and she is sleeping he has flowers in his hand and turns her over and apologies she tries to ignore him and pushes him off but resists and they hug on the bed. All that has happened has been forgotten about.

Camera angle – The camera will show her lying on her side with him coming him the room in the back you can see he has flowers in his hands. Cut to him trying to apologise cut to them hugging and her accepting the apology.

9. They are back to there normal selves. E.g. out shopping together

They are in a store and he is buying things for her she’s browsing and they walk out together with his arm over her and they are smiling at on another they have loads of shopping bags.

Camera angle - shows them in full shopping in the one store and follows them out of the store.

10. She finds numbers.

He has just come back from work and she is in the kitchen cooking he comes up to her hugs her and she hugs him she takes his coat of and takes it to hook it up as she does this paper drops out of his pockets she picks it up and just out of interest looks at it and see’s that there is a telephone number saying “call me with a number and a kiss”. She looks at it and is shocked and goes back into the kitchen and asks him he denies anything and changes the argument and accuses her of going through his pockets. The argument gets heated up and he is in her face shouting at her and snatches the number back. She push’s him trying to get her point across he turns around with his first clinched as though he’s going to hit her. She backs down and looks afraid. He walks out on her again.

Camera Angle – Slow motions. Cuts showing all scenes.

11. He is out with his mate.

He is in a bar sat down having drinks with his mate. His mate walks off and says he’ll be back and when he comes back he has two girls in his arms and introduces them to him. They sit down together and the girlfriend is calling him he misses her calls deliberately and switches his phone off. Cut to the girlfriend calling him and getting frustrated as she carries on calling him. Cut back to the bar the girl’s mates walk in and notices the boyfriend with another girl on his lap they look shocked and call the girlfriend up. They tell her and she starts crying and getting angry. She starts to put her coat on. Cut to the girlfriend turning up at the bar and looks at her boyfriend he has no reaction in his face and looks back at her with the girl still sat there. She walks off nodding her head clearly looking upset then he pushes the other girl off his lap and tries to grab his girlfriend and as she pushes him off he stops and lets her go and looks not bothered and goes back inside the bar.

12. He comes home and hits her.

He comes in the house storming and shouting at her. She shouts back. She is packing his clothes for him to leave but he doesn’t and they carry on arguing.
He pushes her, pulls his first up and hits her. He throws her around the room. And leaves her in the bedroom to cry.

Camera Angle – The camera will focus on him hitting her these will be of fast cuts that make the situation look real.

13. Back to her on the sofa crying. Final Scene.

She is crying and is looking at some pictures of them two sitting in the park, (Couple pictures). Cut to her looking in the mirror at her bruises, Cut to her on the floor crying. Cut to flash backs of all the upset she has been through. Cut to her getting up off the sofa and picking up bags with his stuff in and leaving them outside her door. Cut To him walking up to the door and finding his stuff and shouting and banging on the door for it to open she doesn’t open. And he finally leaves cursing her as he does so. Cut back to her with the pictures and throwing them in the bin. She walks to the window and looks outside wiping her tears and finally letting go.

Camera angle – These scenes will be fast cuts and really choppy. She final cut when she is looking out the window will focus on her face and emotions and will prove that she has let go.

OUTCOME

The main thing I am trying to show is what a female has gone through in a relationship that was hard for her to get out of. I want this to be an emotional piece and also filled with expressions that show the story.

Final Major Project

I have just been briefed today about my final major project, as i want to go into music video production i will hopefully be directing and producing a music video. I have thought about it today and have thought that it will work well if i relate it to my dissertation - "how are women portrayed in music videos". So far in my dissertation i have been looking at music videos where the majority of the females are made to look like they are below the men. Women are mainly being portrayed as sex objects, made out to be worthless and needy of male company. This information has been gathered by my recent research into the portrayal of women in music videos. This information goes further in my dissertation.

In this day and age i feel women need to be seen equal to men and just as worthy and independent especially in the music video industry. During this brief i hope to work with an up and coming female artist/s, hopefully following the genre of RnB or hip hop. I choose to do this because personally i feel there is a chance to make the female presence become less of a sex symbol and more respectable.

This is a producer who's work i thoroughly enjoy, he has many talents from photography, to music videos and film production. He has worked with some of the most top rated hip hop artist to ever emerge such names like Nas, DMX, Missy Elliott and many more. The style and creativity and imagination that Hype williams brought to the table was a new type of method where he made full use of the fish eye lens and stylish outfits. From dream like to realist styles, all was possible and he pulled it off to a new level of heights. He started of as a graffiti artists with his tag "Hype", he then went on to making remarkable music videos. He has had some of the most amazing sets that i have ever seen, Lights, location and outfits are what stand out for me. Hype William's made full use of all the technologies that where available throughout his career.

These are just a selection of some of the ones that have influenced me.

2001 - Aaliyah R.I.P - Rock The Boat

In this video the location is shown at its fullest and Hype Williams has showed it off. Colors are kept to a minimal but the artist Aaliyah is shown to stand out from the rest of the crowd. The shots range from long angles to close ups and the way they are edited together work with fades. The natural availability's such as the sun light where used to advantage in the video. Hype Williams showed the amazing beauty of Aaliyah with the colorful outfits and makeup. I like the way sex appeal has been shown, this makes the video stand out and shows feminine beauty. The most amazing scene in this video is where Aaliyah is shot under water, it flows well with the music. Hype Williams has talent to show each artists personalities and pro-traded them in ways of there own style. This video has shown me that close up shots and long angle shots work together as well as minimal color. The Video is soft delicate and natural and expressed what Aaliyah was all about. Rest In Peace.

OCEANO - District Of Misery

This music video i think is very choppy i like the way it is put together and the way the music follows the editing. The blur that comes in and out go with the music as well, which makes the sounds stand out. The light looks like it is coming from above and this gives shadow to the musicians in the video, this makes them stand out. I also think it is very clever how there are flashes of contrast in the video, these last for split seconds and stand out. Most of all i have learnt in this music video the video follows along with the music as when the tempo slows down it shows it with wave like effects, and when it speeds up it gets very choppy. The music video is built up from simple location where the band are filmed playing and shots of props, such as cards being burnt, things hanging from the celling. The director has focused on the force of the sound almost like a weight, focusing on the instruments being played, the head banging, and all the props. The (card) props give a new scenes even though they are just close ups.

WINDS OF PLAGUE - The Impaler

This music video is full of light and contrast even though it still has a dark side to it. There looks like there are lights set up on the set to make the video stand out. echoey effects are added to the beat and the music the video almost bounces to the beat. There are about 4 scenes which show a lifestyle and when the music slows down the scene completely changes from being rough to being soft.I don't really like the change for me it doesn't work it is too different from the start of the video. The characters have been put from sets to a green screen background and this shows a really big change.

Snatch - Fight Scene

This scene influenced us on location and lighting the contrast in the dark colors work and highlight the fight. The slow motion when the camera pans around the victim on the floor works and we will be using slow motion so looking at slow motion will influence us. The camera follows each fighter, using different angles close ups and full shots of the two fighters.

Ong Bak - Fight Scene

The focus is a main part in this clip how the fighting is shown at its roughest. The location again works and the lighting makes the fighters stand out. Slow motion in the clip works well as it develops the force in the fight. The camera is filmed as it is hand held giving the effect of movement in the fight. The way its is filmed gives an edgy feel to the the scene. Natural lighting around the room makes the fight scene look natural too. Lighting needs to be concentrated on as we don't want to much or to less in out music video, natural lighting would be preferred or if we could create it.

Never Back Down - Fight Scene

The camera angels show the fight and panning around the fight is a part we need to consider. The lights and location are what we are looking for but even if the location is dingy it still will work, without mats on the floor. The build up to the fight is shown and this gives the aura to the fight. We are deciding wether to have a build up to show the pressure in the fight.

Leeds Granary Wharf, Leeds

This is a location in leeds known as the Granary Wharf, this could be a possible location as it looks secluded. I like the natural lighting as it lights the atmosphere up the light is a kind of yellowy color and this works with the rough background and dark colors, we may need to use other lights (spot lights) to make the fighters stand out but then the lighting around could do this for us, as well as the shadows can, and shadows can easily be casted as the light is surrounded. Our fight scene will be rough and this location looks rough and it doesn't need a lot of props to make it look like an underground fight location. The location looks like it has been like this for years as the paint from the wall is chipped. The last image could not work if shot at that angle because you can see the shops in the background so if we was to shot here we would shot facing the wall, adding an angle to give the edgy feel.

This location would be ideal and will work with our shots.

I am interested in producing and editing a music video and having an eye-catching effect. I have chosen to work with Alex Harrison, on a music video by the band Project Metropolis, we together will create a music video that follows the theme of the music which is “Heavy Metal”. I myself am not such a big fan of this type of music but this will broaden my knowledge, and will let me explore other styles. This is a great opportunity to learn about another sub culture. Alex and me will put a storyboard together tackling what will work and what will not, this will be done by an in-depth research into the music genre.

The band will be shot live and there are 5 members, we may also require extra actors. The music style consists of a kind of dark, angry feel, with high contrasts, this is where we will be using adobe after effects to get this type of style, also lighting is a major concern, I will be part of the filming, editing and storyboarding, but concentrating on the editing of the final piece.

The storyboarding is still undergoing and we have discussed that the video will follow a short story; such films as Fight Club, Ong Bak, Warrior King, and so on will influence us. Other music videos from bands in a similar genre may also influence us if the style is similar. There will be different shots from scenes where the band are playing and scenes where an underground fight is taking place. Our task is to make these to scenes gel together.

We will be sure to do a lot of research into any theme we choose to make sure we really get a good feel of the style. We will also research heavily into other music videos for as much inspiration as possible, so that our final product is the best it can be.

We are looking into the target audience and still are trying to pin point who they are, they can vary from young teenagers, to adults that follow the sub-culture and style. We need to find suitable locations for the fight scene, such as basements, car parks, garages, or cellars, we need permissions for these. Safety is a major concern as there will be fighting scenes; so great care and attention will be paid.

For the final piece we expect to have a music video with a well-structured narrative behind it, which not only makes sense but also successfully works with the underlying track. The narrative is a key factor in this video and will make it stand out. After affects, lighting, and other elements will help us to achieve a stand out piece

I found this video on youtube it has a very powerful message and describes the effects of CO2 in a very dramatic way. This is what i would like to do. I feel that the video has clearly stated a message and this gets to people in the best way possible. Its short and packed with a variety of information. The video almost comes across as a story, showing all the things which are using unnecessary energy, the voice over makes it clear and gives a more dramatic effect because the male sounds serious. Then there are some flashing light effects which show the Energy being used. I really like the beams of lights they work so well with the whole idea. The male makes powerful points which are true it makes you want to listen more. At the end of the video the earth comes in at a zoom and you see it go red which shows the could be effects which turn into the red light of a electric device (very clever). I feel i would want to definitely have this kind of effect on my project.

This was my first initial idea of a intro layout its very simple and at the start the label would appear as though its is peeling on to the page. Then it would highlight as rollover. The boarder of tomatoes will highlight as the page is still.

This is a range of the same tomato with effects applied in Adobe after effects you cant view them but it was a effect where the tomatoes became very distort and merged in to there real shape it gave a very trippy feel not really my intentions but i had problems bring the format into flash parts where missing so it wasn't possible for me to do.I liked the effect but it was to distort.

These tomatoes at the bottom would drop from the top and make a splatting noise. The rollovers would have the link names such as, Products, Fun, Flavors, Nutrition's, they would be highlighted into a different color. I wasn't pleased with this out come the tomatoes looked to flat and the idea of the feel wasn't perceived. It is very basic and the white stands out to much. The drop shadow on the tomatoes didn't work neither.

This idea was fun to do it is a intro to the website. The bottle would tilt from being facing upwards and the lid would pop off and ketchup would squirt out with very squirty noises. The Ketchup would form the Enter button and look as though its sauce.I did like this idea but when i looked at it and asked for feedback i found that the imagery was to vector and hard. I don't want this as i am trying to perceive the feeling of the "flow of sauce" great idea but dose not work. The assets where made in photoshop and brought in as separate layers to work.

This is playing with text animations in flash i was trying to get the text to come in the screen in a funky way. I managed to do it i had to split the text in six parts and motion tween them together from the left and right. They had a color change from red to black. The button would appear from nothing and same with the enter button. I preferred the background to be this color it doesn't look to plain anymore but still this type of animation for the text did not work it l looked to futuristic rather then flowy and delicate. I am happy with the boarder and background color is a natural tone.

This is again a intro which i done in flash. The positioning of the text i am happy with and i feel the tomatoes in the O look good. The tomato on the side would drop down from off the screen and make a splat noise and the enter button would appear. I do like the layout but it is to plain i couldn't find anything to animate more to make it look better and more interactive The white works well as a background because the size of the text takes its place. It would have been nice to animate the small tomatoes in the O maybe some of them falling out of it.

This is a layout and a view of what the buttons would look like i am happy with the buttons and i found that i could animate them in some cool ways. This would be the home page. With text around it. Every time you click a button the present text would disappear and the link related text would appear. It is very basic but looks good.

This is the top assists but rearranged in a more of a appropriate way. I felt that having the buttons in the center limited me in the things i could have appear on the rest of the screen so i have moved them to the right hand side this gives me more space and layout to play with. I think i will use this layout and button design in my final website design.

This is the finished piece i have made for my brief it is for channel four a ident for a fear season. Its made in adobe after effects and i have used a series of still images which i added effects to and animated text. This idea changed and i feel is a mix of my overall ideas. It shows a series of murder images and monstrous sounds.I added the sounds to make it a psychological feel as well as a thriller.

This is a short video i made in after effects it is not atall good or the result i wanted i really wanted to have a detective murder case file kind of theme but i cant manage to do this. I changed my idea and decided to have flashing images and sound to create a horror feel. But this is a test i did and it shows a photo appearing like it has just been taken from a Polaroid camera. I used sound to give it a even more intence feel.

Close Up Walk

This shows a low angle camera filming someone walking in a corridor, with dark lighting and scary sound effects. The person is not clearly viable and walks slowly towards the camera the footsteps will be loud and echoey. As the person gets close it becomes visible that they are holding a knife which will drop and will show blood on it and from the blood the logo will appear along with Fear season coming soon.

The CCTV Cam

This will be a film shown in a CCTV view capturing a person in a bed and another person which isn't clearly visible appearing and getting closer to the person lying in bed. The effect will be like the ring movie where the person disappears but reappears like a broken T.V.When the turn around and look into the CCTV camera and get close to it they break it and you will see a broken screen and hear screams and monster like growls. After that has happened the four logo will appear along with fear season coming soon.

First View Kill

This film will be shoot as in first person view of a killer.The killer will approach a dark street and open a gate and loudly knock on a door, someone will open the door and scream as though to show they have been stabbed. Then the camera will zoom into the mouth of the scream and the logo and fear season will appear in the mouth. To achieve this effects the sounds must be important and exaggerated.

This is a a series of images of a murder. This is the type of images i want to create. It is a lead up to more intense scary images. These images are off google to show a idea.

These are the images i have used in my Fear ident. I manipulated them in Photoshop. I wanted the blood to stand out so i made the main focus images black and white., like the sin city feel. All the images i have taken myself. I would have liked to create the blood more realistic but i found it hard to achieve.

We have been introduced to Adobe After Effects. I have animated still images and made the VH1 logo letters fade in and out.I added a effect called CC Light Burst 2.5, it was the ray lengths i changed as well as the point of burst. It is a bit slow but i am still working with the way the program works. There are many things you can do in Adobe After Effects. You can work with moving images/Video and still images.

New Idea -Interactive menus

Last time i was at my course i had a idea come up. I know that it already exists but i want to try make this thing popular. I have come up with the idea of having interactive menus in restaurants "slash" clubs. It will be a flat screen at each table with a restaurant menu and other vital information to. Clubs that are restaurants on a day can have this it will be a lot easier way of communication and advertising. For example the menu will be featured along with the club events and contact information. I have realized that majority of places that are restaurants "slash" clubs have many different kinds of flyers, menus and leaflets with loads of information. There is so much card and this must take a lot of time to print and use a lot of money. My theory is that this idea will help promotion and save recycling if every bit of information is on screen rather then bits of card. Majority of the time the bits of card are thrown away and not really looked after, i have found that i end up looking at them and rolling them up and making paper things out of them. If the menus and information is on screen and interactive they will be looked at and not abused. It will save money of reprinting and cardboard. The design solution works with the designer uploading the image onto the interactive menu. Which can be changed at any time saving money, time and all sorts of other things. I don't really know how it will work and what needs to be done. This is just a scratch of a idea, that hopefully will be successful for the foreseeable future. What Makes a Horror Movie Scary?

"The movie industry would suffer greatly if there were no horror films. Every year, producers, writers, and directors apply their skills to one of cinema's oldest genres. But along the way, something has happened to horror films. Many of them are still entertaining to some degree. But very rarely anymore do these films really have the ability to frighten. Many of the movies brought to the big screen in recent years fit into the PG-13 horror thriller category. But viewers are finding these films a bit lukewarm. So what does it take to make a really scary film? Here are some theories...

Elements of the Extreme

The reason why movies like "Friday the 13th", and "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre" were so terrifying in the 1980's is because they provided elements of the extreme. In both films, a murderous culprit (or culprits) could readily be identified. But the extreme nature of the violence is what kept viewers' eyes glued to the screen when these movies were first released. While murder is an everyday occurrence in society (even some as gruesome as the ones depicted on screen), seeing someone getting split in two with an axe is much more disturbing than hearing about a stranger who's been killed in a random drive-by shooting.

This is why more recent films like the "Saw" Trilogy have been so successful. The murderer's twisted, and bloody survival games in the "Saw" films tested the limits of the average viewer's imagination. People that watched the movies put themselves in each of those trying situations. Doing so made the film that much more intense"

I would agree to what the person has written about what makes a movie scary. I feel that its about building up ones tension and giving the impresion somthing bad is going to happen. I don't think it would be a good idea to have loads of bloods and guts in the ident i think it will turn out a bit to corny. I have researched this for my FEAR (season) - Ident for a series of psychological horror and thriller movies - Channel 4, Brief. If i want to create that scared feeling i most know what others are afraid of and this will make my ident appealing to the content.

This is well good advert its using the logo really well, with the concept of horror.

Sky Horror Ident

Idents look like short films with information packeted in them. They give a clear view of what they are trying to advertise. So i need to make sure i get my point across in the best way possible.

Channel 4 music advert

In this ident there is a variety of of effects used. Filming, Green screen, lighting plays a great effect and colour. There is effects used on the typography maybe after effects. This is a mixture of props and after affects.

SCI FI Advert

Its short ident no talking straight to the point and very catchy and direct. They have used a 3d program and it is very advanced. Its very clever and they have used the sci-fi logo within the advert.

FEAR (season) - Ident for a series of psychological horror and thriller movies - Channel 4.

An idea popped into my head, i could have a movie with a male or female walking, low angle near the ground so you can just see the shoes. The sound would be important the steps will have to be loud and echoey. Some heart beat which gets louder as the movies goes along. Then the person knocks on a door and the sound of the heart beat stop along with any other sound then you see a knife drop on the floor really exaggerated with blood. Basically the person has walked up to a house and has stabbed the person who has opened the door. It needs to be really dark and scary feel i will need to work with sound effects and image manipulation.

National Media Museum Bradford!

Our group went on a trip to the National Media Museum in
Bradford. The museum features 5 floors of the most exclusive stuff. There I found that are so many unique digital media visual materials. The museum holds a wide range of collections in photography, cinematography and television. It was fascinating to look at. The museum was very educational, and historical. The museum showed a story about the different equipments and techniques used in the media world.

The photography collection held works from major photographers such as Julia Margaret Cameron. Their where photographs printed in all types of media and with different techniques. One of the techniques that where displayed was Daguerreotype, which was a very early technique to create prints but wasn’t the first. It is where an image is exposed from a lens onto a mirror-polished surface of silver then slightly heated.

I found the Kodak collection of photographic technology section was really amazing as well as the television collection. It was amazing to see the many ranges of equipment and how they change in shape and in function.

There was a section on one of the floors in the museum, which was about optical illusions this was really fun. It had stuff, which showed different ways of seeing things. There was this painting, which had four colours above red, green, blue and yellow which reflected on to the image one at a time, which showed that the different colours when shone on would make certain parts of the image stand out or appear as they weren’t there with the other colours. This stood out to me and it did amaze me.

There also was an animation section, which had a collection of storyboards, characters and animation sets which reflected the history of the film, and animation. There was a unique set of the animation series of Wallace and Gromit. I went into a small cinema where I viewed the history of animation and effects on screen and how it has changed it made me think that some of the old techniques are very visually appealing.

Overall the museum is a very educational experience I would advise people to visit this place and enjoy the history of digital media.

Album design is your own style with help in promoting the music artist. I feel that the design of a album cover has a lot to do with the music artist you choose to design for. The subject matter is about the difference of female designers to male designers that there are not as much females to males. The title of the article grabbed me because i would want to read about this more because i am a female and the design industry is something i would want to be a part of. There is a statement that the writer has made which i feel don't just applied to females even though he says a small percentage. He says that

"some women may decide to raise a family and remove themselves from the job market entirely"

I feel that you could say this for men to its to me come across as females are better to be known to be housewives, while men work there jobs. He does outline that the main question is do male and females have equal opportunities? and there are examples of the differences. I am a digital media student and in my class are 4 females the rest 25 or so are male. So this subject does come to my attention. A female Tracy Robinson says that

"she has been looked over for projects because they were considered too masculine for me"

For design work i don't feel that design could be too masculine for females. For design all you need is talent from your creative mind. It doesn't take muscle and you don't need to be fit, like for building jobs are mostly male this i can agree with and understand because there is loads of heavy lifting and construction that takes muscle. Females physically compared to males are a lot different.

The article goes on to explain that some people think that some jobs are to masculine, that the female designs don't fit into the clients needs. I think that females can create designs for both sexes just as good to a female design and male design.

This is my first attempt at stop, whilst coming up with the concept i soon realized how enjoyable and easy it was to produce a moving image using this technique over using Maya and flash. Flash has great after effects which i am still manipulating to my advantage. Reproduction of masterpieces of historical art is discussed and many facts and stories behind the work have changed people’s views. Text added to art can also change people’s views about art and why it was made. Everybody has their own way of thinking and this book tells the reader how art has changed and that there are many different explanations about ones art work.

I really find this funny! I think this animation is done in a program called Maya. What amuses me is the movement of the teddy bear it matches the movie story. It gives the viewer a feel of the actions. The explosions have a lot of feel the animation is well timed and i would like to create this sort of effect.

First I've cut out the music bars using the Rectangular Marquee Tool selecting sections and deleting them. I changed the colors selecting again with the Magic Wond Tool. Then added a simple effect called Stoke which is 38 pixels in size.

I going to be creating a new type of trainer which when you perches you can change the design and create your own styles. The trainer will come in a box and would be plain. All your creating is done by touching the trainer and changing logos, colors and textures. This is my idea which i will be doing tones of research on. This idea has emerged from the website by Nike where you can customize and personalize your trainer online.
